A description is given of biophysical, socioeconomic, and institutional aspects of adopting and diffusing minimum tillage for soil conservation in the Metalio-Guaymango region of El Salvador. The adoption was successfull, thanks to the influence of institutional factors, to agronomic knowledge, and to the presence of an integrated system of technological diffusion linked with credit. However, it must be admitted that the presence nof cattle in the farming system is an important factor in conditioning the technology's success. (MIBA)
