Varietal selection in market gardening for tropical humid lowlands (Caribbean Islands) Proceedings - St. John's (Antigua y Barbuda) 1990 - p. 46-49 - Reports, Results and Recommendations from Technical Events Series A2/LC (IICA) no. 90-02 0253-4746 .

The article explains that one of the main constraints limiting the development of market gardening in the humid tropics is varietal adaptation. The criteria for choosing a good variety are: 1) adaptation to the climate; 2) resistance to sickness; 3) fulfilling the qualitative market requirements, and 4) productivity. The document presents species as: melon, cucumber, eggplant, sweet pepper, tomato, lettuce, carrot, onion, among other items. (MIBA)
