Se realizó un estudio para caracterizar los sistemas silvopastoriles y evaluar su productividad en el Area Protegida Miraflor Moropotente en Estelí, Nicaragua. El área se ubica entre las coordenadas geográficas 13o 3' 22" y 13{eth} 7' 30" latitud norte y 86° 29' 15" y 86{eth} 29' 50" longitud oeste. La temperatura promedio anual es de 21.4 °C y la precipitación media anual de 874 mm. Se identificaron 5 categorías de vegetación en el área de estudio: 1) potreros con menos de 30 árboles de carbón (Acacia pennatula)/ha (PBDAC)); 2) potreros con más de 30 árboles de carbón/ha (PADAC); 3) potreros con robles (P+R); 4) matorrales (Mat) y 5) bosques (BQ). Se levantó un inventario de especies (leñosas y herbáceas) en éstas categorías de vegetación, tomando cuatro fincas por categoría. Se midió el número de especies total, la densidad de plantas/ha y su distribución por estado sucesional (brinzal, latizal y fustal). La producción y calidad de los pastos en las diferentes categorías de vegetación fue medida entre los meses de abril, julio y agosto, tomando cuatro fincas al azar. La calidad de los pastos fue medida en términos de la digestibilidad in vitro de la materia seca (DIVMS), la proteína cruda (PC), la fibra detergente neutro (FDN) y la fibra detergente ácido (FDA). La producción y calidad de frutos y del follaje de carbón fue medida en los mismos meses en que se midió la calidad de la pastura y fue evaluada en las categorías de vegetación PADAC y Mat. También se evaluó el índice de aceptabilidad (IA) y el consumo en las categorías PBDAC y Mat. |

A study was carried out to characterize the silvopastoral systems and to evaluate their productivity in the Miraflor Moropotente Protected Area in Estelí, Nicaragua. The area is located between the geographic coordinates 13° 3' 22 and 13{eth} 7' 30 North Latitude and 86° 29' 15 and 86{eth} 29' 50 West Longitude. The average annual temperature is 21.4 °C and the average annual precipitation is 874 mm. Five categories of vegetation were recognized in the study area: 1) pastures with less than 30 carbon (Acacia pennatula) trees ha-1 (PBDAC); 2) pastures with more than 30 carbon trees ha-1 (PADAC); 3) pastures with oak trees (PR); 4) scrub vegetation (Mat) and 5) forests. A species inventory (woody and herbaceous) was carried out for each vegetation category, in four farms per category. Measurements were taken of the total number of species, density of plants ha-1 and their distribution by successional state (brinzal, latizal y fustal). Pasture production and quality in the different vegetation categories was measured between the months of April, July and August, in four randomly selected farms. The pasture quality was measured in terms of in-vitro dry Matter digestibility (DIVMS), crude protein, neutral detergent fiber (FDN), and acid detergent fiber (FDA). Production and quality of fruits and leaves of carbon were measured in the same months in which pasture quality was measured and these were evaluated in the vegetation category PADAC and Mat. In addition, the acceptability index (IA) was evaluated as well as intake in the PBDAC and Mat categories. |
