Summary, etc	El objetivo de la investigación fue determinar la influencia de la vegetación hospedante de adultos de Phyllophaga elenans (Guazuma ulmifolia) sobre la distribución espacial de las poblaciones larvales en caña de azúcar, y su implicación sobre las prácticas de manejo de la plaga utilizando hongos entomopatógenos. Se utilizó una metodología de captura-marcado-recaptura de adultos utilizando trampas de luz ubicadas en cinco sitios con distancias entre 50 y 450 m. Se realizó un muestreo de suelo para determinar la densidad poblacional y distribución espacial de larvas en una retícula de 100 x 100 m. en tres parcelas con árboles hospedantes en uno de los bordes y tres parcelas sin árboles. A nivel de invernadero, se inocularon de adultos con tres aislamientos de Metarhizium anisopliae para evaluar el porcentaje de mortalidad, producción de conidias por adulto, transmisión cruzada y sobrevivencia de la progenie de adultos inoculados. Los resultados confirman la efectividad de Metarhizium anisopliae sobre los adultos de Phyllophaga elenans y un efecto sobre la reducción a la sobrevivencia de su progenie.

Summary, etc	The objective of this research was to determine the influence of the host vegetation (Guazuma ulmifolia) of Phyllophaga elenans adults over the spatial distribution of larvae population in sugar cane, and its implication for pest management practices using fungus entomopathogens. An adult capture-marking-recapture methodology with light traps located at five sites with distances among 50 m and 450 m was used. In order to determine the population density and spatial distribution of larvae in a 100 x 100 m net, a soil sampling was done in three plots with host trees in one border and in three plots without trees. In order to evaluate the mortality percentage, conidia production per adult, crossed transmission, and progeny survivance from inoculated adults, Phyllophaga elenans adults were inoculated with three Metarhizium anisopliae isolations in greenhouse. These results show the effectiveness of M. anisopliae over P. elenans adults and its progeny survivance reduction.
