Summary, etc	El presente estudio proporciona insumos para la definición de un proyecto de pago por servicios ambientales hídricos (PSAH), estos son: caracterización de la situación actual biofísica y socioeconómica de las microcuencas de las quebradas Sesesmil y de Marroquín, las cuales alimentan al sistema de agua potable de Copán Ruinas, caracterización física y administrativa del actual sistema de agua potable, caracterización de la percepción de los beneficiarios de este municipio sobre la protección del recurso hídrico, valoración económica de la voluntad de pago para el proyecto de PSAH mediante el método de valoración contingente con el análisis no paramétrico y paramétrico, y propuesta de un marco operativo para la implementación de este tipo de proyectos en Copán Ruinas, Honduras.Con el fin de operativizar el cálculo de voluntad de pago dentro de la estructura tarifaria actual, se propone la estratificación de los abonados con base en un criterio socioeconómico, para dos categorías de consumo de agua potable (doméstica y comercial). Por otro lado se plantea que el marco operativo local para el manejo del proyecto de PSAH esté dentro de la estructura existente de la mancomunidad MANCORSARIC, contribuyendo de esta forma al fortalecimiento institucional y a la inclusión progresiva del resto de municipios que conforman la mancomunidad.

Summary, etc	The present study provides resources to define a framework in payment for hydric environmental services (HPES). This process includes characterization of the current biophysical and socioeconomic situations in the Sesmil and Marroquín micro-watersheds, which supply the potable water system of Copán Ruinas, Honduras. It also includes the physical and administrative characterization of the current potable water system, and characterization of the beneficiary perception of this municipality regarding hydric resource protection. Finally, it includes economic valuation of payment for the HPES project through the method of contingent valuation with a parametric and non-parametric analysis, while proposing an operative framework for the implementation of this type of project in Copán Ruinas, Honduras. Payment stratification based on socioeconomic criteria for twocategories of potable water consumption (domestic and commercial) is proposed for the calculation of the voluntary payment within the current tariff structure. On the other hand, this study suggests that the local operative framework for the management of the HPES project would be carried out within the MANCORSARIC's existing community structure, contributing to institutional strengthening and the progressing application of this type of project to other participating counties.
