Summary, etc	El objetivo principal de esta investigación es lograr que los pequeños productores y otros actores clave del Alto Beni cuenten con información sobre las cadenas productivas alternativas al cacao y sus respectivas oportunidades de mercado y mercadeo. Específicamente, se pretendió identificar el marco político-legal y regulatorio para el desarrollo de las organizaciones empresariales de pequeños productores (OEPP), las cadenas agroforestales alternativas al cacao con oportunidades de mercado y mercadeo, las oportunidades y limitaciones de las OEPP para una integración exitosa a las cadenas alternativas identificadas y, por último, hacer una reflexión sobre la utilidad del enfoque multicadena aplicado en esta investigación. La metodología aplicada se basaron en la "Guía para facilitadores en etapas iniciales de organizaciones empresariales rurales de pequeños productores y productoras" desarrollada por el Centro para la Competitividad de Ecoempresas (CeCoEco) del CATIE. Como resultados de esta investigación se han identificado tres cadenas agroforestales alternativas al cacao con mayor potencial de mercado y mercadeo: cítricos, banano orgánico y carambola. Todas las cadenas identificadas tienen potencial de mercado a nivel nacional, ante todo en los mercados de La Paz y El Alto.

Summary, etc	This research's main objective is to make available information concerning alternative supply chains and their respective market and marketing opportunities for small producers and other key actors in the Alto Beni region. Specifically, identifying the legalpolitical and regulatory framework for the development of small producer enterprise organizations, alternative agroforestry supply chains with market and marketing opportunities, OEPP opportunities and limitations for a successful integration of the identified alternative chains and, finally, to reflect upon the benefit of a multi-chain focus applied to this research. The methodology applied is based on the "Guide for facilitation of the initial stage of rural enterprise organization by small-scale producers" developed by the Center for Competitiveness of Ecoenterprises (CeCoEco) at CATIE. As a result of this research, three agroforestry chains have been identified that have market and marketing potential: citrus, organic bananas and starfruit. It was concluded that a multichain focus of the CATIE guide allows for the identification of the opportunities and limitations of small scale rural producers in different agricultural and forestry product chains, according to the degree of diversification of their life strategies, enterprise organization and market potential.
