Summary, etc	Se evaluó el efecto de la sombra de dos especies comunes en sistemas silvopastoril en el trópico de Nicaragua, genízaro (Albizia saman Jacq.) y coyote (Platymiscium parviflorum Benth.) sobre la productividad primaria neta aérea, la composición botánica y la calidad de 14 especies forrajeras. Al evaluar la arquitectura de los árboles, se encontraron diferencias significativas en la altura total de las especies (p = 0,0021) y la profundidad de copa (p = 0,0001), presentando coyote los mayores valores. Para el diámetro de copa no se encontraron diferencias significativas entre las dos especies (p = 0,3158). La productividad de la vegetación herbácea estuvo afectada por la sombra, independientemente de la especie (p = 0,0159). Sin embargo, no se encontró una interacción significativa entre la especie y la ubicación (p = 0,9864). La PPNA total bajo la influencia de la sombra de genízaro fue en promedio igual a 5,18 g m-2 día-1, mientras que bajo coyote, la productividad presentó un valor igual a 3,3 g m-2 día-1. Durante la época seca, la cantidad de biomasa producida en las áreas a plena exposición solar y bajo la sombra (ubicaciones empleadas en los muestreos), no mostraron diferencias significativas entre sí (p = 0,9864). De igual manera, no se presentaron interacciones entre la ubicación y el ciclo (p = 0,3702) y entre la especie, la ubicación y el ciclo (p = 0,8402).

Summary, etc	The effect of the shade provided by two species commonly found in silvopastoral systems in Nicaragua, Raintree (Albizia saman Jacq.) and Coyote (Platymiscium parviflorum Benth.) on the aerial net primary productivity, botanical composition and the nutritive value of 14 species was evaluated in this study. Both tree species differ in morphology, significant differences were detected in height (p = 0,0021) and coppice depth (p = 0,0001), with higher values found for Coyote. No differences between species for coppice diameter were found (p = 0,3158).Regardless of tree species, shade affected the productivity of the under-story herbaceous vegetation (p = 0,0159); however, there was no significant interaction between tree species and the location under the shade (p = 0,9864). The total ANPP under the shade of Raintree was in average 5,18 g m-2 day-1, whilst under Coyote the average was 3,3 g m-2 day-1. During the dry season, no differences were detected in ANPP under the shade or under full sun exposure (p = 0,9864). Also there were no significant differences attributable to the interactions of location x cycle (p = 0,3702) and species x location x cycle (p = 0,8402).
