El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue analizar la situación actual del recurso hídrico y de la gestión comunitaria e institucional del agua para consumo humano en las microcuencas Buenavista y Esquichá, cuenca del río Coatán y proponer estrategias para el fortalecimiento de las estructuras de gestión del agua. Los principales resultados indican que en México, la microcuenca Buenavista no cuenta con una organización consolidada como Comité de Microcuenca para manejar su territorio y sus sistemas de agua potable, cada Ejido trabaja por separado. Finalmente, tomando en cuenta la situación actual en cada uno de los países, se procedió a formular una propuesta de fortalecimiento, tanto para los principales actores institucionales que en la actualidad se encuentran interviniendo en la gestión del agua de la cuenca y que fueron estudiados en la presente investigación, como para la articulación de estos y otros actores en una estructura de cogestión del agua, es decir al planteamiento de un modelo de gestión de la cuenca transfronteriza del río Coatán que permita a futuro manejar de manera coordinada entre los dos países todo el territorio de la cuenca. |

The main objective of this research was to analyze the current situation of water resources, community management and institutional drinking water and to recommend strategies for strengthening the water management structures, in the watersheds of Esquicha and Buenavista of the Coatan River basin. In each of the watersheds proposed in the study were characterized biophysical, socioeconomic and political. Finally, taking into account the current situation in each country, it was proceeded to make a proposal to strengthen for both, major institutional stakeholders, that are currently taking part in water management in the basin and were studied in this research, and also, to the articulation of these and other actors in a co-management structure of water, in the approach of a management model of Coatan river transboundary basin enabling future management in coordination between the two countries all over the basin territory. |
