Las estrategias de competitividad a nivel de cadena productivas forestales son un factor imprescindible para establecer la forma adecuada en ue estas van a competir en los mercados locales e internacionales de ellas depender si se tiene o no ito en su gesti n empresarial. Por lo tanto, el diseño de estas estrategias deberán ser coherente con los recursos, capacidades, entorno y estructura organizativa de la cadena. En la presente investigación se realizó un análisis integral de la cadena productiva del carbón vegetal en parvas, producido a partir de residuos de aprovechamiento forestal y agroforestal en el occidente de Nicaragua, delimitándola y evaluando las principales causas que influyen en la dinámica de la cadena. esta información sirvió como insumo para la realización de una estrategia de competitividad que permitirá un aumento en la competitividad frente a sus competidores directos, fortaleciendo la respuesta de la cadena hacia la demanda. EL proceso metodológico principalmente consto de dos fases, un análisis de la competitividad relativa de la cadena frente a sus competidores y la realización de 4 talleres los cuales fueron realizados con la participación de actores focales pertenecientes a cada uno de los eslabones. En cada una de éstas fases se desarrollaron diferentes actividades que dieron como resultado el diseño de la estrategia de competitividad para la cadena. Así mismo, se realizó un análisis del impacto socio económico de la actividad carbonera en las Comunidades de El Bosque y Tolorar, determinando la demanda a nivel local, los costos de producción, rendimientos y márgenes de ganancia neta para los actores involucrados de manera directa e indirecta en esta actividad. La investigación se encuentra dividida en tres secciones, la primera es una introducción general en donde se establecen los objetivos y las preguntas claves que orientan la investigación, así como el marco al marco conceptual sobre el cual se trabajó. Las otras dos secciones se desarrollan a manera de artículos. Los resultados obtenidos en ambos artículos servirán de insumo para el estudio de cadenas productivas forestales y así mismo brindaran elementos de juicio para una adecuada regulación y reglamentación de la actividad carbonera en Nicaragua. |

Competitiveness strategies at the level of forest product supply chains are an essential factor in establishing whether and how these products will compete in local and international markets, and whether or not small business management efforts will be successful. Therefore, the design of these strategies should be consistent with the resources, skills, socio-economic context and organizational structure of the actors in the chain. In this study a comprehensive analysis was conducted of the production chain of charcoal produced in covered pits (parvas) from the residue of timber harvesting and agroforestry in western Nicaragua. The analysis demarcated the links of the chain and evaluated the principal factors that influence its dynamics. The information generated subsequently served as input for the creation of a strategy that will allow these producers to increase their competitiveness against direct competitors, strengthening the chain's response to market demand. The methodological process consisted primarily of two phases: an analysis of the relative competitiveness of the chain with respect to its competitors, and the organizing of four workshops that were conducted with the participation of focal actors belonging to each of the links in the production chain. In each of these phases, different activities that resulted in the design of a competitiveness strategy for the chain were developed. Likewise, an analysis of the economic impacts of charcoal production for the communities of El Bosque and Tololar was conducted, determining local demand, production costs, yields and marginal net profit for those involved directly and indirectly in this activity. The present study is divided into three sections. The first is a general introduction in which the conceptual framework, objectives and key questions that guided the research are established. The next two sections are written as articles focused on the chains in question. The results in both articles will serve as input for the study of forestry production chains and likewise provide evidence to support proper regulation and oversight of charcoal production activities in Nicaragua. |
