Summary, etc En mayo de 1960, el Director del IICA decidió realizar una revisión global de los programas a partir de las experiencias acumuladas, con el fin de establecer pautas a seguir por la institución durante los próximos años. Consintió en ayudar a financiar los gastos de la revisión. Cuando la Junta Directiva eligió generosamente a las Fundaciones Ford y Rockefeller el Director nombró dos Equipos de Revisión, uno para las Ciencias Biológicas y otro para las Ciencias Sociales, cada uno compuesto por tres miembros. En 1961, estos Equipos viajaron y recolectaron datos e impresiones, con lo que elaboraron un informe para el Director General, personalidades, tanto de Estados Unidos como de América Latina, para revisar este informe y formular las recomendaciones pertinentes. El Panel de Revisión se reunió en San José, Costa Rica, los días 3, 4 y 5 de julio de 1961, bajo la presidencia del Dr. Byron T. Shaw, administrador del Departamento de Investigación del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos y representante de los Estados Unidos en el Consejo Técnico Asesor del Instituto, este informe cubre esta primera fase del Programa.

Summary, etc In May 1960, the Director of IICA decided to carry out a global review of the programs based on accumulated experiences, in order to establish guidelines to be followed by the institution in the coming years. He agreed to help finance the costs of the review. When the Board of Directors generously elected the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, the Director appointed two Review Teams, one for the Biological Sciences and one for the Social Sciences, each comprised of three members. In 1961, these Teams traveled and collected data and impressions, with which they prepared a report for the Director General, personalities, both from the United States and from Latin America, to review this report and formulate the pertinent recommendations. The Review Panel met in San José, Costa Rica, on July 3, 4, and 5, 1961, under the chairmanship of Dr. Byron T. Shaw, Administrator of the Research Department of the United States Department of Agriculture and representative of the United States on the Institute's Technical Advisory Council, this report covers this first phase of the Program.
