Summary, etc	Describe las investigaciones realizadas en 1986 por el Centro de Investigaciones Ecológicas del Sureste (CIES-México) sobre la broca del cafeto (Hypothenemus hampei), especialmente en lo que respecta a su ecología y comportamiento en el Soconusco, Chiapas, México, con el objetivo de poder generar las bases que permitan diseñar programas de control integrado. Específicamente, describe la metodología, resultados y conclusiones obtenidas en la realización de bioensayos olfatométricos para conocer la respuesta de la broca a extractos de frutos de café; motivaciones sobre la emergencia de la broca en laboratorio y en el campo bajo condiciones semicontroladas; y generación de información con respecto a la relación de la broca con el peso seco del grano de café y a la caída del fruto.
