Con el interés de fomentar un diálogo especializado sobre la incidencia del cambio climático en el sector agropecuario, el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) organizó un foro técnico para evaluar las implicaciones de los acuerdos tomados en la 17ª Conferencia de las Partes (COP17) de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre Cambio Climático (CMNUCC). El encuentro, organizado el 6 de marzo de 2012 por el Programa del IICA sobre Agricultura, Manejo de Recursos Naturales y Cambio Climático, permitió conocer más acerca de los retos que el fenómeno del cambio climático plantea a las naciones, así como compartir experiencias concretas de Costa Rica y República Dominicana relacionadas con las estrategias que ambos países han desarrollado para adaptar la agricultura al cambio climático y mitigar los gases de efecto invernadero (GEI) generados por el sector agrícola. |

In an attempt to foster dialogue on the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) organized a technical forum<br/>to discuss the implications of the agreements reached at the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) of the United Nations<br/>Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).<br/>The forum, held on March 6, 2010, and organized by the IICA Agriculture, Natural Resources Management and Climate Change Program, afforded an opportunity to learn more about thechallenges climate change poses for countries, and the strategies Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic have developed to adapt their agricultural sectors to climate change and reduce the volume of greenhouse gases (GHG) that the sector emits. |
