Se emplearon técnicas multivariadas para identificar las tipologías cafetaleras y para determinar la importancia relativa de cada variable en las clasificaciones, además a través de preguntas y conversaciones con los productores se identificaron que eran estrategias que ellos habían adoptado para el manejo del cafetal.Resumen: A set of socioeconomic and biophysical variables which describe the design and management of coffee plantations were evaluated in 48 farms in the department of Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Multivariate techniques were used to classigy types of coffee plantations and to determine the relative importance of each variable in the classifications. Furthermore through interviews and conversations with the producers we identified which strategy of management was best suited for their type of operation.
