Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Guatemala durante el 2019, con respecto a las necesidades e interés del país, fortaleciendo en temas de administración financiera, comercialización, planes de negocio, tecnologías agropecuarias, en herramientas y metodologías de extensión agrícola y en temas de equidad de género, que involucran a la mujer rural. Asimismo, se mejoraron las capacidades de resiliencia ante efectos de cambio climático en el cultivo del café, en el manejo de plagas de café, en la capacitación de agricultores familiares y en el ingreso de productores, debido al incremento de la producción por área y en la reducción de costos de producción. Se realizaron diversos proyectos de investigación, con el fin de mejorar las producciones agrícolas, así como insertar innovaciones en el sector, que contribuyan al desarrollo sostenible y la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional. Finalmente, se identifico y sistematizo el bio-emprendimiento en la cadena del cacao, así como el posicionamiento de este producto en ámbitos nacionales e internacionales.

The main activities carried out by the Institute in Guatemala during 2019 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening in matters of financial administration, marketing, business plans, agricultural technologies, tools and methodologies of agricultural extension and on issues of gender equality, which involve rural women. Likewise, resilience capacities were improved against the effects of climate change in coffee cultivation, in the management of coffee pests, in the training of family farmers and in the income of producers, due to the increase in production per area and in the reduction of production costs. Various research projects were carried out, in order to improve agricultural production, as well as insert innovations in the sector, which contribute to sustainable development and food and nutritional security. Finally, the bio-entrepreneurship in the cocoa chain was identified and systematized, as well as the positioning of this product in national and international spheres.
