La misma fue concebida como una actividad complementaria bajo la Conferencia Internacional de la FAO y el Programa en Recursos Fitogenéticos para preparar un plan global de acción para los recursos fitogenéticos en la alimentación y la agricultura.Resumen: The Consultation Meeting provided technical inputs deemed relevant to the first Report on The State of the World's Plant Genetic Resources and a costed Global Plan of Action for the Conservation and Sustainable Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture which were being prepared by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, for the Fourth International Technical Conference on Plant Genetic Resources, Leipzig, Germany, June 1996. These two documents were expected to be adopted by the ITCPGR, within the FAO Global System for the conservation and utilization of PGR. (MV)
