Most pests occur during the dry season and are not economically significant on a national level. However, the recently recorded wet season mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus has become a serious threat to pepper production. Management of this mite incorporates a number of cultural practices and judicious use of pesticides. The recently introduced species Thrips palm; which thrives best in the dry season, has also become a very serious threat to pepper production
