Efforts to increase agricultural production would be incomplete without decreasing losses along the chain linking the farmer with the final consumer. Against this background, post-harvest diseases can be defined as diseases that develop during harvesting, grading, packing, transportation to market, during storage and handling, etc. In other words, post-harvest diseases continue to develop until final consumption of the produce. The contents: Magnitude of losses; effect of post-harvest diseases on produce; cause of post-harvest deterioration; symptoms of post-harvest diseases and causes of post-harvest deterioration, etc. (MIBA)
