One word relevant to all these terms is beekeeping. The art of beekeeping is demonstrative of how individuals can undertake sustainable economic activities which are beneficial to both humans and the environment. With these thoughts in mind the Regional Beekeepers Workshop was organised to evaluate the present state of the art of beekeeping in the Eastern Caribbean and to provide guidelines for its development. The table of contents presents in section 1 the introduction, agenda, opening ceremony and the workshop conclusions/recommendation. Section 2 the country papers on beekeeping. Section 3 technical papers: Africanized bees in Trinidad and Tobago; possible impact of the Africanized honey bee on Caribbean apiculture; the need for beekeeping legislation in the Caribbean; managing nutritional resources for honeybees; hive product diversification and marketing opportunities, queen rearing in the Caribbean, among others themes. Section 4 agro-forestry and environmental protection in the Eastern Caribbean - ongoing actions. An Annex includes the list of participants. (MIBA)
