The article explains that one of the main constraints limiting the development of market gardening in the humid tropics is varietal adaptation. The criteria for choosing a good variety are: 1) adaptation to the climate; 2) resistance to sickness; 3) fulfilling the qualitative market requirements, and 4) productivity. The document presents species as: melon, cucumber, eggplant, sweet pepper, tomato, lettuce, carrot, onion, among other items. (MIBA)
