This paper explains the development of a course using lectures with visual aids, complemented by discussion groups. Through the discussion groups, the participants were able to analyze the situation of generation and transfer of technology in Suriname and suggest ways for improving it. The initial part of the course provided the participants with a conceptual framework and information necessary for understanding the process and structures of the generation and transfer of technology within Suriname, while later stages were oriented to furthering recommendations towards improving same. The final activities of the course were the compiling of suggested ways of restructuring the extension and research systems; eleven specific recommendations to the Ministry of Agriculture were made. The document includes opening remarks and address, course papers, results of working groups and two closing remarks. (MIBA)
