Section II refers to domestic production of yams (two species grown in Antigua: D. alata and D. rotundata. Section III presents the propagation techniques of yams. Section IV refers to the yam seed multiplication project that is a collaborative venture between the Agricultural Extension Division (AED), CARDI and the Ministry of Agriculture. The object of such a venture is to address the need for disease free yam planting material, as well as the quantity of material itself. Finally, the development strategies for yam development say that in summary, there is need for improved strategies in technology for increased yam production. Finally, some strategical approaches, wich should be followed: import substitution; expansion of germplam; use of mini-sett technique as a means to generate planting material within specified time; assessment of acceptability of yams by the consumers; and, use of the Key Farmer approach, among others.
