Continuously, it presents the major constraints: 1) most of the traditional cultivars in particular the alata species are characterized by low yield and are susceptible to anthracnose; 2) unavailability of clean or disease free planting materials to farmers; poor marketability and lack of co-ordination between production and marketing; and post-harvest losses due to poor handling and packing techniques and production is seasonal and labour-intensive. Finally, it is presented the improvement plan for the mentioned problems and constraints that require technical inputs, farmers education and capital investments. (MIBA)
