Germplasm evaluation and selection were done over a wide range of food and forage crops. Germplasm was mainly stores in the fields and seed rooms for true seeds. With the advent of tissue culture techniques, two centres for micro-progragation were established: a large one in Barbados and in Dominica. However, it explains that efforts need to be redoubled and directed towards a great regional coordination in the management of plant genetic resources
