The agrarian reform that look place in Ecuador society during the last three decades have led to profound changes in the characteristics of the country's rural communities. These communities have developed a number of productive strategies (socio-economic and cultural) that have facilitated a response, based on the cultural reality of said communities, to challenges originating in the society at large withim the framework of the process of capitalist modernization.
