Este informe consta de cuatro secciones: la primera introducción. En la segunda sección se analiza la evolución de los enfoque del IICA en relación con sus labores de cooperación en materia sanitaria y fitosanitaria. La tercera parte presenta un resumen de las acciones que el IICA llevó a cabo en 1996 y durante el primer semestre del presente año, discutidas a la luz de los mandatos del GTMSF. La última sección presenta algunos planteamientos sobre los aportes que el IICA podría ofrecer al GTMSF en los mandatos correspondientes. Como complemento a la información aportada en el documento principal se incluyen seis anexos. Los mismos se encuentran mencionados en la sección correspondiente. (MV)

This report consists of four sections: the first introduction. The second section analyzes the evolution of IICA's approach in relation to its cooperation efforts in sanitary and phytosanitary matters. The third part presents a summary of the actions that IICA carried out in 1996 and during the first semester of this year, discussed in the light of the GTMSF mandates. The last section presents some proposals on the contributions that IICA could offer to the GTMSF in the corresponding mandates. As a complement to the information provided in the main document, six annexes are included. They are mentioned in the corresponding section. (MV)
