The third administrative retreat of the IICA Office in Jamaica focused on moving Towards administrative excellence: consolidating efficiency and effectiveness, thereby building upon the improvements projected by the first retreat (efficiency) and the second retreat (effectiveness). At each retreat, they (the team) reviewed the document containing last year's recommendations, discussing accomplishments and shortfalls in their implementation. They also shared the responsability of presenting different topics of concern to the administration. The team analyzed and decided on solutions which were put into effect once discussed with the technical staff at a subsequent meeting. They recongnized that this is their method for working toward administrative excellence. At the end of the retreat, it was observed by the group that the level of analysis was more profound than the second one. This is an indication of the evolution of the administrative process in the office as well as the usefulness of this exercises. It was, therefore, recommended that it should remain an annual event.
