This final review assessed the project's impact on the regional fruit sub-sector, determined that it should be continued and made recommendations which will serve to influence the form that the new project should take. The IICA Fruit Project was designed to support agricultural diversification and address the critical issues related to fruit production and marketing in the Caribbean. It was executed in three phases over the period, 1989 - 1998. The desired impact of Phase III, 1996-1998, was to increase production, improve quality, modernize processing and enhance the value of selected fruit crops. The specific objetive was to improve national and regional institutional capability through the promotion and support of reciprocal inter-institutional cooperation for the development of the fruit sub-sector. The project was to be implemented through three basic activities: management; institutional strengthening and dissemination of information and materials
