Los sistemas de café bajo estudio son: Café Joven con Sombra Diversificada (CJSD), Café Productivo con Sombra Diversificada (CPSD), Café Productivo con Inga spp (CPI), Café Productivo con Especies Maderables (CPEM) y Café Productivo en Abandono (CPAB). Debido a la variabilidad encontrada en la altura de los árboles de sombra, dentro de los sistemas, se procedió a estratificar los SAF de café por rangos de altura de los árboles en: menor que 5 m, 5-10 y mayor que 10 m. Se realizó un Diagnóstico Rural Rápido (DRR) en base a 97 entrevistas semiestructuradas aplicadas a productores cafetaleros, con el fin de obtener información socioeconómica a nivel de finca e información biofísica de los SAF de café.Resumen: The objective of this research was to quantify and economically value the service of carbon fixing and storage from different coffee agroforestry systems (CAS) in the zone Yassica Sur, Matagalpa, Nicaragua. The coffee systems under study are: young coffee with diversified shade, productive coffee with diversified shade, productive coffee with Inga spp productive coffee with timber - yielding species and productive coffee with abandon. Due to the differences found among the systems related to the shade trees height, a stratification of the systems depending tree height as less than 5 m, 5-10 m and more than 10 m was done. A rapid rural appraisal (RRA) based on 97 semi-structured interviews applied to coffee growers was done. The main objective was to get socioeconomic and biophysical information of the CAS.
