| 520 | _aEl presente trabajo se llevó a cabo en CATIE, Turrialba, Costa Rica entre julio de 2005 y octubre de 2006. Se estudió la variabilidad genética de la caoba (Swietenia macrophylla King) en 168 familias de 10 poblaciones de Costa Rica y Bolivia, utilizando descriptores cuantitativos de semillas y plántulas y a través del cálculo de la heredabilidad (h2) y del Coeficiente de Variabilidad Genética Aditiva (CVGA). En el ensayo se evaluaron cuatro caracteres cuantitativos en cerca de 10.000 semillas, 21 caracteres en 4.595 plántulas y 7 caracteres de materia seca en 465 plántulas. Se encontraron altos valores de h2 para los caracteres peso y ancho (en semillas), altura y diámetro (en plántulas) y la relación peso seco/húmedo raíz y peso seco aéreo (en materia seca), lo que indicaría que son los caracteres con mayor diversidad genética. | ||

In the test, four quantitative characters for 10.000 seeds were evaluated, 21 characters for 4.595 seedlings and 7 characters of dry matter in 465 seedlings. We find high values of h2 for the characters weight and wide (in seeds), height and diameter (in seedlings) and the relation root dry weight/humid and aerial dry weight (in dry matter), that would indicate that they are the characters with greater genetic diversity. | ||
