520			_aEsta investigación se realizó el año 2008 en la región de Rivas, Nicaragua con la finalidad de crear conocimiento sobre los factores que condicionan la decisión empresarial y la efectividad de la metodología CeCoEco en promover iniciativas empresariales entre los pequeños productores de plátano. Los pequeños productores de esta región cultivan el 80% de la producción de este país y son miembros de la Asociación de Plataneros de Rivas (APLARI). Finalmente, la información cuantitativa y cualitativa se analizaron juntos para elaborar la discusión y conclusiones. La metodología CeCoEco fue 64.5% efectiva en promover en los hogares iniciativas empresariales basadas en factores externos como región (Isla o Tierra Firme) y riesgo (plagas y enfermedades y acceso al mercado), y factores internos o recursos del hogar como capacitación agropecuaria, volumen de producción y acceso a crédito.
520			_aThis research, conducted in the Rivas region of Nicaragua during 2008, had the goal of creating knowledge about the conditioning factors for entrepreneurial decisions and the effectiveness of CeCoEco methodology for encouraging entrepreneurial initiative among the small plantain farmers. Small farmers of this region grow 80% of the country's production of plantain and are members of the Association of Banana Plantain Farmers - APLARI. In addition, quantitative and qualitative information were analyzed together to draw conclusions. The CeCoEco methodology was 64.5% effective in prompting households to take entrepreneurial initiative based on external factors such as region (mainland or island) and risk (plantain disease and market access) and internal factors or livelihood assets such as farming training, volume of production and access to credit.
