520			_aDebido a que la participación de América Latina y el Caribe (ALC) aumenta en el mercado mundial agroalimentario, en el futuro esta región desempeñará un papel aún mayor como oferente global de alimentos y materias primas agrícolas, para lo cual deberá mejorar en materia de reglas que obstruyen el comercio, infraestructura y regulaciones (CEPAL et al. 2017). Esta situación demanda un mayor y efectivo control de los alimentos y de las materias primas agrícolas, para el comercio local y las exportaciones, por parte de los sistemas nacionales de inocuidad de los alimentos (SNIA), para garantizar la protección de la salud pública, con el cuidado de no generar obstáculos innecesarios al comercio.
520			_aAs its share of the global agrifood market continues to grow, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) will play an even bigger role as a global supplier of food and agricultural raw materials to the rest of the world. To do so, however, it will have to make improvements in areas such as rules that are a barrier to trade, infrastructure and regulations (ECLAC et al. 2017). This situation means that national food safety systems (NFFS) will have to exert greater and more effective control of food and agricultural raw materials, for the local market and exports, in order to ensure that public health is protected, but without erecting unnecessary barriers to trade.
