520 _aThe purpose of this study was to generate information about the current situation at the farm level, with respect to the production and marketing of fruits in St. Lucia. The objectives of the Orchard Crop Diversification Project (OCDP) (initiated in May 1979 with financing and technical assistance from the British Development Division (BDD)) were oriented to improve farmers' husbandry practices, increase productivity and production, increase farmers' income, increase exports of high-quality produce and make better use marginal land. The results of this study are presented in 35 tables. In each case, the particular table is referred to and sufficient analysis carried out so that the reader will be able to clearly understand and interpret the data. These results are based on a sample of 179 fruit farmers, and the types of fruit trees included in the study were: mango, avocado, grapefruit, orange, lime, cocoa, and others. (MIBA)
