Las principales actividades del Instituto se orientaron a apoyar a sus Estados Miembros con instrumentos actualizados o nuevos para la modernización de sus sistemas nacionales de innovación y sus servicios oficiales fito y zoosanitarios, así como a fortalecer las capacidades de los sectores público y privado para aprovechar las oportunidades del comercio agrícola y abordar temas como gestión territorial, biotecnología, bioseguridad, seguridad alimentaria, cambio climático y mitigación de gases de efecto invernadero.

The main activities of the Institute were aimed at supporting its Member States with updated or new instruments for the modernization of their national innovation systems and their official phytosanitary and zoosanitary services, as well as strengthening the capacities of the public and private sectors to take advantage of the agricultural trade opportunities and address issues such as land management, biotechnology, biosafety, food security, climate change and greenhouse gas mitigation.
